Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
This paper talks about the city of Kotor and its surroundings in the antique times based on ancient authors, and in the early modern era, based on the work of Ivan Bolica Descriptio urbis Ascriviensis. The origin and changes in the name of the city of Kotor have been displayed using ancient originals. Mythological terms that appear alongside Christian motives are singled out and well explained. Influence of Virgil's Aeneid and Georgica on Description of the city of Kotor by comparing individual verses will show similarities in the way of writing eulogies to the city between Marko Marulić and Bolica. The history of the city of Kotor will be shown all the way till the end of the 16th century and it will be determined which sights mentioned in Bolica's epic exist today.
