Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
The aim of this study was to investigate sleep quality and morningness-eveningness preferences in a community sample of married couples older than 50 years. Furthermore, we examined whether married couples are matched or mismatched in sleep quality and morningness-eveningness preferences and relationship between the two measures. The sample of 98 married couples filled Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and The Composite Scale of Morningness (CSM). The results show that married couples in general differ in sleep quality, wherein women have worse sleep quality. Women had poorer results on components Sleep latency, Subjective sleep quality and Daytime dysfunction compared to men. Moreover, a difference between married couples was found in morningness-eveningness indicating that women show less morningness preferences than men. The married couples weren't matched neither on general sleep quality nor morningness-eveningness. Significant correlation between general sleep quality and morningness-eveningness preferences was not found.
