Abstract

U radu se pokušava definirati i analizirati žanr distopije od nastajanja pa sve do danas – kroz same početke literatura pa do filmova kakvi su sada. Kroz primjere se pokušalo pokazati kako je distopija kao žanr napredovala, pogotovo na prelasku u novo tisućljeće. Žanr postaje populariziran pojavom Matrix trilogije, ali velika ekspanzija distopije kroz kinematografiju datira samo nekoliko godina unazad zbog novih, tinejdžerskih trilogija koje prikazuju mlade likove u borbi za preživljavanje u svijetu koji je gotovo cijeli uništen. Od tada, distopija počinje dobivati više pozornosti, koliko od publike toliko i od kritičara. Analiza znanstvenih članaka, knjiga i novinskih napisa provedena je uz usporedbu s filmovima čija bi distopijska tematika uskoro mogla postati stvarnost. Točnije rečeno, filmovi koji su analizirani sadržavaju teme poput društvene aktivnosti, ekonomije, tehnologije, ekologije ili psihologije.

Abstract (english)

This paper presents attempts to define and analyze the genre of dystopia from its origins to the present day – through the very beginnings of its literature to movies as they are now. Examples have sought to show how dystopia as a genre has progressed, especially at the turn of the new millenium. The genre firstly gained popularity with the Matrix trilogy, but the great expansion of dystopia troughout the cinematography is dated just few years ago, with new teenage trilogies depicting young characters fighting for survival in a world that has been nearly destroyed. Since then, dystopia has begun to receive more attention from audiences as well as critics than ever before. An analysis of scholary articles, books and newspaper articles was carried out by comparison with films whose dystopian themes could be a sign of the times that are perhaps coming. Specifically, the movies that were analyzed include topics such as social activity, economics, technology, ecology or psychology.
