Abstract

U ovom diplomskom radu prikazana su opravdanja države Hobbesa i Rousseaua. Putem prikaza i usporedbe društvenog ugovora želim pokazati kako oba filozofa shvaćaju opravdanje države. Cilj rada je prikazati sličnosti i razlike u shvaćanju društvenog između dva filozofa. Usporedba je provedena kroz prikaz pet ključnih tema: čovjekova psihologija, prirodno stanje, društveni ugovor, država i raspad države. Rad prikazuje na koji način čovjekova psihologija utječu na stvaranje odnosa u prirodnom stanju i kako shvaćanje ljudske prirode kod dvaju filozofa utječe na razlike u njihovom shvaćanju prirodnog stanja. Rad više stavlja naglasak na sam proces sklapanja ugovora i na to kako se formulacija ugovora povezuje s opravdanjem države, nego na prikaz uređenja i elemenata države koje nastaju sklapanjem ugovora.

Abstract (english)

This thesis presents Hobbes's and Rousseau's justification of the state. Through the presentation and comparison of the concept of social contract, it has been shown how both philosophers try to justify the existence of the state. The main goal of the thesis is to show the similarities and differences between the two philosophers in their understanding of the concept of social contract. In particular, five main topics are discussed: human psychology, natural state, social contract, the state, and the breakup of the state. It has been shown how human psychology influences the creation of relationships in the natural state and how different conceptions of human nature can account for the differences between the two conceptions of natural states – Hobbes’s and Rousseau’s. The thesis puts more emphasis on the very process of reaching the social contract and on how the formulation of the contract relates to the justification of the state, rather than on the presentation of the very arrangements and elements of the state that arise from the conclusion of the contract.
