Abstract

Tema ovog istraživanja je korejska popularna glazba kao determinanta kulturnog identiteta mladih. Pregledom povijesti k-popa i definicijama osnovnih pojmova koji se koriste unutar k-pop zajednice stvoren je teorijski okvir kojim se objašnjava poveznica između korejskog popa i promjena kulturnog identiteta mladih. Osnovni cilj rada je proučiti i objasniti utjecaj korejske popularne glazbe na kulturni identitet mladih. Također se nastoji saznati jesu li uz glazbu na identitet utjecaj imali i drugi oblici korejske popularne glazbe te općenito jesu li utjecaji koji su doveli do promjena kod mladih pozitivne ili negativne prirode. Uzorak ovog kvalitativnog istraživanja čini šest relevantnih članova k-pop zajednice. Kao metoda koristio se polu-strukturirani intervju. Prikupljeni su se podaci transkribirali i analizirali s ciljem otkrivanja mogućih ponavljanja određenih tema. Nalazi istraživanja pokazali su da je korejska popularna glazba imala velik utjecaj na kulturni identitet mladih te da je spomenuti utjecaj pozitivne prirode. Također se pokazalo da uz glazbu utjecaj nije imao nijedan drugi oblik korejske popularne kulture. Obzirom na nedostatak istraživanja na ovu temu, istraživanjem se diže pitanje bi li trebalo detaljnije i na većoj skali proučiti utjecaj k-popa na mlade ljude.

Abstract (english)

The central focus of this research was to examine the relationship between Korean popular music (K-pop) and the cultural identity of young people. By providing a historical overview of K-pop and defining key terms used within the K-pop community, a theoretical framework was established to explain the connection between K-pop and changes in the cultural identity of young people. The main objective of the study was to understand and explain the influence of K-pop on the cultural identity of young people and to investigate whether any other forms of Korean popular culture had an impact on their identity, and whether these influences were positive or negative in nature. The sample for this qualitative research consisted of six relevant members of the K-pop community. A semi-structured interview was used as the method. The gathered data was transcribed and analyzed to identify recurring themes and patterns related to the specific topics. The research findings indicated that Korean popular music had a significant impact on the cultural identity of young people, and this influence was found to be of a positive nature. Additionally, it was revealed that no other forms of Korean popular culture had an impact on their identity. Given the lack of research on this topic, the study raises the question of whether the influence of K-pop on young people should be examined in more detail and on a larger scale.
