Abstract

Cyberhondrija je oblik anksioznosti za koju je karakteristično prekomjerno internetsko pretraţivanje simptoma, koje moţe dovesti do povećane razine rastresenosti i brige. Cilj ovog rada bio je provjeriti faktorsku strukturu hrvatske verzije Ljestvice izraţenosti cyberhondrije, utvrditi postoji li razlika u izraţenosti cyberhondrije s obzirom na spol, dob, obrazovanje, mjesto ţivljenja, bračni status i dosadašnje iskustvo s bolesti te koliko osobine ličnosti doprinose objašnjavanju dimenzija cyberhondrije. U istraţivanju je sudjelovalo 462 muških i ţenskih sudionika u dobi od 18 do 64 godine, koji su ispunili hrvatsku verziju Ljestvice izraţenosti cyberhondrije (CSS), Skraćeni inventar Velikih pet (BFI-10) i mjeru dosadašnjeg iskustva s bolesti. Podaci su prikupljeni online upitnikom. Rezultati istraţivanja pokazuju kako nije potvrĎena petfaktorska struktura Ljestvice izraţenosti cyberhondrije; zadrţana su samo četiri faktora (Pretjerivanje, Kompulzivnost, Drugo mišljenje, Rastresenost). Ţene, osobe liječene tijekom ţivota, osobe liječene u posljednjih pet godina, sudionici s dijagnosticiranom psihičkom ili tjelesnom bolesti i osobe s izraţenim Neuroticizmom i Ugodnošću su skloniji Pretjerivanju prilikom pretraţivanja. Kompulzivnost je izraţenija kod neurotičnih osoba i onih koji su bolovali tijekom ţivota, dok Drugo mišljenje češće traţe osobe koje su se liječile tijekom ţivota/u posljednjih pet godina i pojedinci s psihičkim poremećajima. Rastresenosti su sklonije osobe s izraţenim Neuroticizmom. Model od pet osobina ličnosti (Ekstraverzija, Ugodnost, Savjesnost, Neuroticizam, Otvorenost) objašnjava vrlo malu količinu varijance dimenzija Pretjerivanje (4%), Kompulzivnost (6%) i Rastresenost (9%), a njihovim značajnim prediktorima su se pokazale dimenzije ličnosti Ugodnost i Neuroticizam.

Abstract (english)

Cyberchondria is a form of anxiety characterized by excessive online health research, which can lead to increased levels of distress and worry. The aim of this study was to examine the factor structure of the Croatian version of Cyberchondria Severity Scale, to determine whether there is a difference in the severity of cyberchondria regarding gender, age, education, area of residence, marital status and medical history, and determine the contribution of personality traits in explaining the dimensions of cyberchondria. This study included 462 male and female participants aged 18-64 years, who completed the Croatian version of the Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CSS), Big Five Inventory-10 (BFI-10) and the measure of medical history. Data was collected using an online survey. Five-factor structure has not been confirmed; factor analysis extracted a four-factor structure (Excessiveness, Compulsion, Reassurance, Distress). Women, individuals medically treated throughout life, individuals medically treated in the last five years, those with mental or physical illness, and participants scoring high on Neuroticism and Agreeableness are prone to Excessiveness while researching. Compulsion is more prominent in people scoring high on Neuroticism and those treated throughout life, while Reassurance is often sought by people treated throughout life and individuals with mental disorders. Participants scoring high on Neuroticism are more prone to Distress. The model of the five personality traits (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Openness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism) explains a small amount of the variances of Excessiveness (4%), Compulsion (6%) and Distress (9%). Their significant predictors are personality dimensions Agreeableness and Neuroticism.
