Abstract

Jezik je jedan od temeljnih elemenata svakoga društva. On je dio nacionalnoga identiteta, uz to je osnovni novinarsk
i alat za prenošenje informacija, a ujedno je i činitelj kulturne baštine naroda pa se zato njime često bave različiti stručnjaci. Ubrzani razvoj informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije i prodiranje „globalnoga“ engleskog jezika u gotovo sva životna područja neupitno utječu na jezik. Kao i svaki stil hrvatskoga standardnog jezika, novinarski jezični stil ima svoje značajke. Lingvisti upozoravaju na sve veći broj engleskih riječi u medijskom jeziku, što ugrožava hrvatski jezik i jezičnu kulturu novinara. Drugi stručnjaci tvrde da je strah od engleskoga preuveličan, zagovaraju jezičnu otvorenost i elastičnost te podržavaju umjerenu upotrebu anglizama. Zato se ovim se radom istražuje pojavnost anglizama u kulturnim rubrikama hrvatskih dnevnih tiskovina, u razdoblju od 1970. do 2010. godine. Rad obuhvaća odabrane uzorke Večernjega lista i Vjesnika. S obzirom na to da se do sada nije pisalo o ovoj specifičnoj temi, rezultati su okvirni i ne mogu se poopćiti. Ujedno je ovo i povod za daljnja istraživanja te suradnju različitih struka u očuvanju hrvatskoga novinarskog jezika.

Abstract (english)

Language is one of the fundamental elements of every society. It is part of any national identity, it is a journalist's tool for information dissemination and also a factor of national cultural heritage. That is the reason why it is often the subject of research by different experts. The rapid development of information and communication technology and the penetration of the "global english" in almost all areas of life, undoubtedly affects language. Like any style of Croatian standard language, journalistic language style has its own features. Linguists warn of an increasing number of English words in media language, threatening the Croatian language and linguistic culture of journalists. Other experts argue that the fear of the English language is exaggerated and support a moderate use of English words in Croatian media language. Therefore, this work examines the incidence of English words in the cultural sections of Croatian daily newspapers, from 1970 to 2010. The work includes selected samples of Večernji list and Vjesnik. Since not much has been written on this specific topic, the results are indicative and can not be generalized. At the same time, this article is also here to encourage further research and cooperation of various professions in the preservation of the language of Croatian journalism.
