Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi odnose između vremena provedenog na internetu (ukupnog, u zabavi i komunikaciji), podrške i osjećaja, provjeriti spolne razlike korištenja interneta, faktorske strukture skala te utvrditi je li socijalna podrška medijator koji mijenja odnose između vremena provedenog na internetu s jedne strane i osjećaja s druge strane. Istraživanje je provedeno online, a sudjelovalo je 447 studenata koji studiraju na različitim sveučilištima u Hrvatskoj, od čega je 241 bilo ženskog spola. Studenti su prvo ispunili opće podatke o sebi i popunili pitanja vezana uz korištenje interneta. Zatim su ispunili MSPSS skalu korištenu za mjerenje socijalne podrške i na posljetku SPANE skalu korištenu za mjerenje pozitivnih i negativnih osjećaja. Utvrđene su negativne korelacije podrške s negativnim osjećajima i zabavom, pozitivnih osjećaja sa zabavom te pozitivne korelacije podrške s komunikacijom i pozitivnim osjećajima te negativnih osjećaja sa zabavom i ukupnim vremenom provedenim na internetu. Potvrđene su faktorske strukture skala koje su i sami autori uspostavili. Matrica korelacija ispitivanih varijabli nije pokazala sve značajne korelacije pa se medijacijski efekt socijalne podrške provjeravao samo gdje su sve korelacije varijabli potrebnih za provjeru pojedinog modela bile značajne, a to su one između vremena provedenog na internetu zabavljajući se, socijalne podrške te pozitivnih i negativnih osjećaja. Strukturalnim modeliranjem, zbog nemogućnosti predviđanja online zabave na temelju socijalne podrške, nije utvrđen medijacijski efekt socijalne podrške u odnosu između pozitivnih i negativnih osjećaja te online zabave. Karakteristike mjera vremena provedenog na internetu dovele su do niskih i neznačajnih povezanosti između tih i ostalih varijabli.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this study was to determine associations between time spent online (in total, communicating and entertaining), support and feelings, check if there are gender differences in internet use, check the factor structure of the scales and to check if social support is the mediator in a relationship between time spent online on the one side and feelings on the other. The survey was conducted online and consisted of 447 students who study on different universities in Croatia, out of which 241 were female. Students firstly gave general information about themself and answered questions regarding the use of the internet. After that they fulfilled MSPSS scale which was used to measure social support and at the end they fulfilled SPANE scale used to measure positive and negative feelings. Support correlated negatively with negative feelings and entertainment, as well as did positive feelings with entertainment. Support showed positive associations with communication and positive feelings. The same association showed negative feelings with entertainment and total time
spent online. Factor structures like the authors themselves have established, were confirmed. The correlation matrix of the used variables did not show all significant correlations so the mediation effect of the social support was checked only where all correlations between the variables necessary to check the mediation effect were significant, and those are the ones between time spent online entertaining yourself, social support and positive and negative feelings. Using structural modeling, because of the inability to predict online entertainment, based on social support, the mediation effect of social support in a relationship between positive and negative feelings and online entertainment, was not found. The characteristics of the measure of the time spent online led to low and insignificant relationships between those and other variables.
