Abstract

U Kritici čistoga uma nalazi se jedna od Kantovih glavnih epistemoloških i
metafizičkih doktrina koju on sam naziva „transcendentalni idealizam“.
Transcendentalni idealizam je Kantov pokušaj da se razriješe glavni filozofski problemi
vezani uz porijeklo i status naše apriorne spoznaje kao i problemi vezani uz karakter
predmeta naše spoznaje. Njegova motivacija za rješavanje epistemološkog pitanja Što
mogu znati?, koje uključuje i pitanje o uvjetima mogućnosti naše spoznaje i znanja o
svijetu, zasniva se na njegovoj procjeni povijesti i stanja u drugoj temeljnoj filozofskoj
grani – metafizici. Cilj je ovog rada prikazati teoriju transcendentalnog idealizma kako
je ona iznesena u Kritici čistog uma, ali također i prikazati argumente kojima se tu
doktrinu može braniti od najčešćih prigovora. Prvo poglavlje bavi se pitanjem što su i
jesu li mogući sintetički sudovi a priori kao i glavnim elementima Kantove
epistemologije. Nakon toga slijedi poglavlje o Kantovom shvaćanju prostora i vremena,
koje sadrži prvi dio teorije transcendentalnog idealizma i analizu pojmova
transcendentno, transcendentalno, stvarnost i idealnost. Treće poglavlje objašnjava
transcendentalni idealizam te njegove epistemološke i metafizičke posljedice. Peto
poglavlje bavi se nekim glavnim prigovorima protiv transcendentalnog idealizma te
mogućim odgovorima na njih. Na kraju se iznosi zaključak o aktualnosti Kantove
doktrine transcendentalnog idealizma.

Abstract (english)

In the Critique of the Pure Reason, resides one of Kant's major
epistemological and metaphysical doctrines called "transcendental idealism."
Transcendental idealism is Kant's attempt to resolve the major philosophical problems
concerning the origin and status of our a priori cognition, as well as problems related to
the character of the object of our cognition. His motivation for addressing the
epistemological question What can I know?, which also includes the question of the
conditions of the possibility of our cognition and knowledge of the world, is based on
his assessment of history and current condition of another fundamental philosophical
branch - metaphysics. The aim of this paper is to present the theory of transcendental

idealism as presented in the Critique of Pure Reason, but also to present arguments that
can defend this doctrine against the most common objections. The first chapter deals
with the question of what are and whether synthetic a priori judgements are possible as
well as the main elements of Kant's epistemology. This is followed by a chapter on
Kant's understanding of space and time, which contains the first part of the theory of
transcendental idealism and an analysis of the concepts of transcendent, transcendental,
real and ideal. The third chapter explains transcendental idealism and its
epistemological and metaphysical consequences. Chapter Five addresses some of the
main objections to transcendental idealism and its possible responses. Finally, a
conclusion is reached on the relevance of Kant's doctrine of transcendental idealism
today.
