Abstract (english)

This thesis aims to provide an analysis of the libertarian notion of free will. It is structured in
four chapters where the author presents and discusses four different topics. In chapter 1, the
author considers questions and problems that motivate the discussion about free will in the first
place. After that, in chapter 2, the author presents in more detail the basic ideas and problems
every libertarian theory needs to properly address. Then, in chapter 3, the author offers the
analyses of one of the most influential libertarian proposals in the contemporary debate. This is
the event-causal view presented by Robert Kane. In the last chapter, the author critically
discusses Kane`s theory and concludes that Kane fails to offer a proper account of libertarian
free will.
