Abstract

Ovaj rad nastoji prikazati modernu povijest Bliskog istoka kroz analizu odabranih vojnih
sukoba koju su prema mišljenju autora odredili tijek povijesti toga prostora. Rad obrađuje dvije
odvojene tematske cjeline: povijest izraelsko-arapskih sukoba i povijest prostora Perzijskog
zaljeva. Analizirajući uzroke, tijek i posljedice najvažnijih ratnih sukoba na Bliskom istoku
pokušat će se dati ukupna slika zbivanja na tom području u razdoblju od kraja Prvog svjetskog
rata do početka devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća, s posebnim naglaskom na vojno-političke
odnose uključenih država. Uz to, rad nastoji objasniti globalna politička kretanja u kontekstu
kojih je to područje došlo u središte pozornosti najvažnijih država svijeta. Osim toga, rad nastoji
rasvijetliti neke od uzroka brojnih konflikata koji i danas opterećuju taj nestabilni dio svijeta.

Abstract (english)

This paper seeks to present the modern history of the Middle East through an analysis of
selected military conflicts, which, according to the author, determined the course of history of
the said region. The paper deals with two separate thematic units: the history of the IsraeliArab conflicts and the history of the Persian Gulf. Analyzing the causes, course and
consequences of the most important war conflicts in the Middle East, an attempt will be made
to give an overall picture of events in the area from the end of the First World War to the early
1990s, with special emphasis on military-political relations. In addition, the paper seeks to
explain global political developments in the context of which the area has come to the forefront
of the world's most most prominent superpowers. In addition, the paper seeks to shed light on
the causes of the many conflicts that still burden this unstable part of the world today.
