Abstract

Suvremeni se svijet dolaskom online medija znatno promijenio. Informacije su postale
dostupnije i pristupačnije. Komunikacija je digitalizacijom također postala daleko lakša. Cilj
ovog rada bio je prikazati mišljenje studenata o utjecaju medija na anksioznost i depresiju kao
i ispitati naglašavaju li mediji loša duševna stanja. U radu su prikazani pojmovi kao što su
mediji, utjecaji i uloga medija u društvu. Ovaj se rad u velikoj mjeri temelji na negativnim
posljedicama tog utjecaja - anksioznosti i depresiji. Postoje razne teorijske postavke o utjecaju
medija na pojedince koje opisuju ovaj pojam, a na kojima će se bazirati prvo poglavlje rada.
U istraživačkom dijelu rada, pomoću online anketnog upitnika, provedeno je istraživanje na
uzorku od 104 studenta na području Republike Hrvatske. Korištena je kvantitativna metoda
ankete. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su da su ispitanici dovoljno upoznati s utjecajem
medija na njihovo duševno zdravlje te da mogu prepoznati oblike anksioznosti i depresije.
Većina se izjasnila kako im praćenje sadržaja u medijima oduzima vrijeme, no ipak
prepoznaju dezinformacije u medijima te su kritični prilikom korištenja medijskih sadržaja.
Nadalje, rezultati istraživanja pokazali su kako studenti vjeruju da mediji utječu na psihičko
zdravlje njihovih vršnjaka, ali ne i na njih same. Također vjeruju kako su njihovi vršnjaci
skloni vjerovati medijskoj slici svijeta.

Abstract (english)

The modern world has changed significantly with the impact of online media. Information has
become more accessible. Communication is also one of the components that has become far
easier with digitalization. The aim of this paper was to present students opinions on the
influence of the media on anxiety and depression, as well as to inspect whether the media
emphasize bad mental states. The paper defines concepts such as media, influences and the
role of the media in society. This work is largely based on the negative consequences of this
influence - anxiety and depression. There are various theoretical assumptions about the
impact of the media on individuals, which explain this phenomenon and on which the first
chapter of the paper will be based. In the research part of the paper, using a survey online
questionnaire, a survey was conducted on a sample of 104 students in the Republic of Croatia.
The results of the research showed that the pollees are sufficiently familiar with the influence
of the media on their mental health and that they can recognize forms of anxiety and
depression. Most said that consuming content in the media takes their time, but they still
recognize the difference between fake news and that are critical in consuming media content.
Furthermore, the results of the research showed that students believe that the media affects the
mental health of their peers, but not themselves. They also believe that their peers tend to
believe the media image of the world.
