Abstract

Ovaj rad istražuje dinamiku online komunikacije unutar virtualnog svijeta videoigara te njihov
utjecaj na razvoj ovisnosti. Usredotočeno na videoigre i virtualni svijet Metaverse, istraživanje
analizira komunikacijske obrasce korisnika, uključujući upotrebu slengova te različite aspekte
komunikacije u virtualnoj stvarnosti. Cilj je rasvijetliti kako videoigre oblikuju komunikacijske
obrasce korisnika i kakav je utjecaj tih obrazaca na njihovu komunikaciju izvan igara.
Također, istraživanje istražuje pitanje ovisnosti, istražujući percepciju korisnika o utjecaju
videoigara na njihovo mentalno i emocionalno stanje te na agresivno ponašanje. Kroz
provedbu online anketnog upitnika na uzorku od 170 ispitanika u dobi od 18 do 35 godina,
istraživanje je identificiralo obrasce komunikacije, percepciju utjecaja videoigara na razvoj
vještina i potencijalnu ovisnost. Rezultati su pokazali da većina korisnika koristi specifičnu
komunikaciju unutar igara te da videoigre mogu pozitivno utjecati na razvoj motoričkih i
socijalnih vještina. Također, većina ispitanika prepoznaje mogućnost ovisnosti i agresivnog
ponašanja uzrokovanih pretjeranim igranjem videoigara. Ispitanici nisu značajno upoznati s
platformom Metaverse, sugerirajući potrebu za daljnjim istraživanjem ove nove tehnologije.
Kroz analizu sociodemografskih obilježja ispitanika, rezultati pružaju uvid u percepciju i
navike korisnika u kontekstu online komunikacije i videoigara.

Abstract (english)

This paper explores the dynamics of online communication within the virtual world of video
games and their impact on the development of addiction. Focused on video games and virtual
world Metaverse, the research analyzes users' communication patterns, including the use of
slang and various aspects of communication in virtual reality. The aim is to shed light on how
video games shape users' communication patterns and what influence these patterns have on
their communication outside of the games. Additionally, the research investigates the issue of
addiction by exploring users' perception of the impact of video games on their mental and
emotional state, as well as aggressive behavior. Through the implementation of an online
survey questionnaire among a sample of 170 respondents aged 18 to 35, the study identified
communication patterns, the perception of the impact of video games on skill development, and
potential addiction. The results revealed that the majority of users employ specific
communication within games and that video games can have a positive impact on the
development of motor and social skills. Furthermore, most participants recognize the potential
for addiction and aggressive behavior stemming from excessive video game playing.
Participants show limited familiarity with the Metaverse platform, suggesting the need for
further research into this emerging technology. Through the analysis of participants'
sociodemographic characteristics, the findings offer insights into users' perceptions and habits
in the context of online communication and video games.
