Abstract

Tema ovog diplomskog rada jesu Paulo Coelho i Miro Gavran u kontekstu new agea. Hipoteza koju ću
dokazati je slijedeća: Miro Gavran i Paulo Coelho su autori koje s obzirom na ono što nude u svojim
djelima,možemo smjestiti u kontekst new agea. Dakle, uloga new agea je da pruži odgovore na
osnovna ljudska pitanja i da utaži ljudsku glad za duhovnim. Biblijsko je kršćanstvo usredotočeno na
izvorne ljudske potrebe, dok je new age duhovnost prvenstveno usmjerena na ljudske želje. Coelho je
odličan primjer new age pisca. Njegova književnost obiluje duhovnošću. Kao konkretan primjer uzet
ću Alkemičara, čiju ću tematiku komparativno izložiti uz Gavranovu dramu Paralelni
svjetovi.UAlekmičarujeprikazana jedna duhovna potraga. Metaforičko blago, pustinja, Duša Svijeta,
znamenje, Bog – motivi su kojima obiluje Coelhovo najčitanije djelo. Činjenica da je new age
usmjeren prvenstveno na ljudske želje potvrđuje priča o putovanju Coelhova junaka, čija je potraga
potaknuta isključivo njegovom željom, koja je putem sna našla put do njegove svijesti.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this work is to place Miro Gavran and Paulo Coelho in the context of the New Age, as
well as proving the hypothesis that both authors can be analyzed within the context of the New Age
culture. The work deals with the comparison of Paulo Coelho and Miro Gavran based on their poetics
and their access to their creativity.
The factors for explaining the phenomenon of the New Age as well as different meanings of the New
Age culture have been marked out in detail. Fundamental determinants according to Douglas
Groothuis, have also been ateined. The creativity of both authors has been simultaneusly presented
by comporative approach.
Differences and similarities in their approaches towards the creation of literary works, as well as the
essence of their works, have been pointed out in this work. New Age symbolism, together the basic
motives embraced in their works, have been emphasized, as well as the critical approaches to both
authors and their works. Finally, the work confirms the hypotesis that both Gavran's and Coelho's
literature can be viewed in the context of the New Age. The works of both authors in many ways
complement each other forming a whole that is tipical for the New Age literature.
