Abstract

Cilj ovoga rada je dati pregled osnovnih značajki egzistencijalizma kao filozofskoknjiževnog
pravca. Egzistencijalizam je prvenstveno filozofski pravac čiji je začetnik danski
filozof Sören Kierkegaard iz 19. stoljeća, no zahvaljujući širokom interesu i prihvaćenosti
temeljnih postavki toga učenja, ono se proširilo izvan granica filozofije. U 20. stoljeću
egzistencijalizam se javlja u književnosti te se začetnikom toga književnog pravca smatra
francuski filozof i književnik Jean-Paul Sartre. U radu će naglasak biti na književnom
stvaralaštvu dvojice književnika – Miroslava Krleže i Jean-Paula Sartrea, odnosno na
njihovim romanima Povratak Filipa Latinovicza i Mučnina čiji su glavni junaci intelektualci
u potrazi za rješavanjem vlastitih egzistencijalnih pitanja i problema s kojima se nose kroz
život. Iznijet će se glavne poveznice dvaju likova, sličnosti njihovih osobnosti, doživljaja sebe
samih, te doživljaja svijeta koji ih okružuje.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this work is to provide an overview of the basic features of
existentialism as a philosophical–literary genre. Existentialism is primarily philosophical
direction whose originator was the Danish philosopher Sören Kierkegaard in the 19th century,
but thanks to the wide interest and acceptance of the basic settings of this teaching, it has
spread beyond the philosophy. In the 20th century, there is existentialism in literature, and
literary pioneer of this line is a French philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre. In this work,
the accent will be on the literary work of two writers: Miroslav Krleža's and Jean-Paul
Sartre's, with reference to their novels The Return of Philip Latinowicz and Nausea whose
main characters are intellectuals seeking to solve their own existential issues and problems
that they carry through life. The main links between two characters will be present, and the
similarity of their personality, experiences of themselves and experiences of the world around
them.
