Abstract

Osnovni cilj ovog istraživačkog rada utvrditi je karakterističan način i količinu pridavanja pozornosti tematici GMO-a putem hrvatskih nacionalnih televizija (HRT 1, HRT 2, HRT 3, HRT 4, RTL i Nove TV). U prvom dijelu rada iznesen je teorijski okvir discipline bioetike, te nove znanstvene discipline – genetike. Pozornost se pridaje važnosti i aktualnosti ove teme za široku javnost, kao i povezanosti pravnih, medicinskih i političkih aspekata važnih za razumijevanje problematike GMO. U drugom dijelu prikazani su prikupljeni rezultati istraživanja o medijskoj prezentaciji problematike GMO-a u Hrvatskoj te njihova analiza. Zaključno se govori o problemu površnog i nedovoljnog izvještavanja nacionalnih televizija o ovoj temi, te upitnoj zdravstvenoj dobrobiti GMO-a.

Abstract (english)

The main objective of this research work is to determine the characteristic way and amount of attention given to the topic of GMO's through Croatian national televisions (HRT 1, HRT 2, HRT 3, HRT 4, RTL and Nove TV). The first part of the paper presents the theoretical framework of the bioethics discipline and the new scientific discipline - genetics. Attention is
drawn to the importance and relevance of this topic to the general public, as well as to the linking of legal, medical and political aspects relevant to understanding the issues of GMO's. The second part presents the results of the research on the media presentation of GMO issues in Croatia and their analysis. Concluding, it is about the problem of superficial and insufficient reporting by national televisions about this issue and the questionable health benefit of GMO's.
