Abstract

Bez obzira na postojeću zakonsku regulativu, praksa pokazuje da mnoge mrežne sranice ne rade u skladu sa zakonom (Brautović, 2007: 27). Naime, mnogi online mediji u Republici Hrvatskoj prikupljaju osobne podatke korisnika kako bi poboljšali i prilagodili svoj sadržaj korisnicima, ali i za prodaju trećim stranama, osobito marketinškim agencijama (Brautović, 2007: 30). Zbog dostupnosti velikog broja podataka na internetu i društvenim mrežama vrlo lako može doći i do (ne)namjernog kršenja osobnih podataka. Naime, korisnici ostavljaju mnogo osobnih informacija na internetu i društvenim mrežama ne razmišljajući o tome tko im sve može pristupiti i na koji ih način može upotrijebiti. U ovom će se radu prikazati rezultati istraživanja provedenog među studentima Hrvatskih studija o prikupljanju osobnih podataka od strane internetskih tražilica i društvenih mreža, osobito Facebooka. Istraživanjem će se otkriti brinu li studenti o zaštiti privatnosti na internetu i društvenim mrežama te treba li im edukacija u pogledu zaštite privatnosti osobnih podataka u online komunikaciji.

Abstract (english)

Regardless of the existing legislation, the practice shows that many web sites do not work in accordance with the law (Brautović, 2007: 27). Moreover, many online media in Croatia collect personal user data in order to improve and adapt its content to users, but also for sale to third parties, especially advertising agencies (Brautović, 2007: 30). Due to the availability of a large number of data on the Internet and social networks, it is very likely that (un) intentional violation of personal dana will happen. Fact is, people leave a lot of personal information on the Internet and social networks without considering who is able to access it and possible consequences. In this paper the results of survey conducted among students of the University Centre for Croatian Studies on the collection of personal data by Internet search engines and social networks, especially Facebook, will be shown. The research will reveal whether students care about privacy on the Internet and social networks. Moreover, this paper seeks to show that students need more education regarding the protection of personal data in online communication.
